McLuhan Assignment

The message that McLuhan was trying to give in his article was that technology was becoming a negative and positive component. When he wrote this article in the 1900's he never knew that in the future we would have such technological advances, such as computers. In this present time we are starting to create layouts of buildings and find medications for different diseases all with the technology that we have, in present time.


These images I chose because of the different programs and advances we have with them. I personally always work on computers and understand the different complicated programs that now effect our everyday life. This is a three step image that shows an example of the medium is the message. I apologize I made a mistake with the layout, now this photo reads from right to left. The first picture, the line of computers, shows that the technology that we have is becoming more advanced and complicated. It represents the medium. The middle section, the computer programs displayed on the screens, explains that because we have computer we are starting to create more things on the computer. We are starting to become a technology enhanced society. This shows the content of the medium. The last picture all the way to the left shows a room of computers and people working on them. It shows that because of all this new technology and new programs that we are creating there are more job opportunities and more advanced things we could create. This is the final stage of the McLuhan idea, the message of the medium.
